FAQs

Find answers to common questions about our tutoring services and how we can help you.

What days are you open?

Monday to Thursday (Sessions every hour starting at 4pm to 7pm)

What subjects do you cater for?

Most of our programs are based around Literacy and Numeracy. We do provide support in other subjects too, especially with our high school students.

What is entailed in the child's program?

Each program is tailor made for the individual student. It sets out to target specific needs of the student and to begin at a level where the student is comfortable and progress from there. With High school students we usually work closely with what they are doing currently at school. This also helps to build confidence and self esteem.

Where is your centre located?

Next to Wyong Hospital, Pacific Hwy, Kanwal - the geographical centre of the Wyong Shire.

Do I have to wait while my child is attending?

You are most welcome to wait however we encourage you to leave your child in our care so we can work through the program without distraction.

Can they be too young to get started

Once they are at school they are old enough to benefit from The Learn Centre program. It can be especially beneficial in the early years.

How long do they need to attend?

You are not locked into any time period. Many children stay on and are supported throughout their school life whilst others come for stages or sections of time.

How long are the sessions?

Sessions run for 1 hour.

What ages do you cater for?

We provide programs for students from Kindergarten to HSC.

What's involved in the assessment?

We provide a free assessment at the LEARN Centre so that you can come in and meet us and see our centre. It allows us to work out the best way to meet the needs of your child so that we can devise a program for them and discuss an overall plan to improve their educational outcomes. The younger children (Age: x to x) come in and meet us in a non-intimidating environment. We can do some simple testing and via discussion establish a program at a level that will guarantee success ongoing.

What will the experience be like for my child?

Our primary aim is for your child to have a very positive experience with us. Every child is treated as an important individual. Since they are on individualised programs they are not being compared to other students. Activities are designed to best suit the students learning style. Our well resourced centre allows us to design a wide range of activities that are targeting specific skills and are fun.

What happens when my child comes in?

The students will work on a personalised learning program designed for your child. Each visit they will come in and work with their teacher on their program. This will involve a variety of activities to keep them motivated and continuing to learn.

Will homework be involved?

Home work is negotiated and if homework is necessary it will be set such that the children will be able to do it independently.

Is there contact with the child’s teacher?

Yes, we do contact the Teacher and we encourage there input. It's our aim to work as a team - 'The Learn Centre, child, parent and Teacher'.

Do you do home tutoring?

No, we only provide tutoring at our centre so we can utilise our wide range of resources and take full advantage of our team of experienced Teachers.

Are the teachers qualified?

Yes, all teachers are qualified and specialists in their area.
